“14 then if my people will humble themselves and pray, and search for me, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
We want revival. God says Repent. We want miracles. God says repent. We want healing. God says Repent. We want blessings. God says repent. We want success. God says Repent.
If you don’t think you need to repent, I invite you to look at the life of Job.
According to God, Job was the finest man in all the earth – a good man who fears God and will have nothing to do with evil.
“4 Every year when Job’s sons had birthdays, they invited their brothers and sisters to their homes for a celebration. On these occasions they would eat and drink with great merriment. 5 When these birthday parties ended—and sometimes they lasted several days—Job would summon his children to him and sanctify them, getting up early in the morning and offering a burnt offering for each of them. For Job said, “Perhaps my sons have sinned and turned away from God[c] in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.” – Job 1:4-5(TLB)
He not only repented for himself, but he did for his sons. Not because he was aware of any glaring sin that stood out although, he would have if that happened. But, he repented on behalf of his sons just in case. He understood something. God is Holy. I am not. God is righteous. You are not. If we are to have an intimate relationship with God, it requires us to catch up to His standards, not the other way around.
So, stop what you are doing. Repent! Repent for using His name in vain. Repent for gossiping about your brothers & sisters. Repent for letting pride prevent you from making peace when you can. Repent, if you don’t think you need to. Just do it. Just in case. When, individually, we are right with God and there is a revival in your life and mine, imagine the corporate revival that takes place. Don’t you want Revival?
“6 No, the kind of fast I want is that you stop oppressing those who work for you and treat them fairly and give them what they earn. 7 I want you to share your food with the hungry and bring right into your own homes those who are helpless, poor, and destitute. Clothe those who are cold, and don’t hide from relatives who need your help.
8 If you do these things, God will shed his own glorious light upon you. He will heal you; your godliness will lead you forward, goodness will be a shield before you, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind. 9 Then, when you call, the Lord will answer. “Yes, I am here,” he will quickly reply. All you need to do is to stop oppressing the weak and stop making false accusations and spreading vicious rumors!” – Isaiah 58: 6- 9(TLB)
